Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, today during a meeting with traditional rulers in the state has made it known that the present Administration in Ondo State will not interfere with the selection process of traditional rulers.
" It's the desire of and resolve of this Administration that appointments are made into those vacant chieftaincy positions in good time. This, however, can only be done with the cooperation of the concerned communities as the government will not, in anyway, indulge in any unnecessary interference and imposition of Obas in any part of the State."
The Governor added that when communities are ready to put behind their their animosity and rancour in their request for new Obas, this Administration will not hesitate to give consideration to recommendations received from the communities.
Mrs Omolola Fagbemi, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who read her welcome address in Yoruba language thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in her. She went further to say that the meeting would provide opportunity for the traditional rulers to interact with the Government.
The meeting, which later went into a close session had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Alfred Agboola Ajayi, Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde, Chief of Staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale and all head of security agencies.
